Night Of The Once Lived 7/2/2001
The desolate air creeps around me, it surrounds me.
It seeps into my being and slithers into my presence.
It sucks the life from me, I wither away slowly, with no trace.
A life once lived flashes before my eyes.
Air once so abundant is now dark and gloomy and full of vacancy and emptiness.
Laughter surfaces bright only to be drowned by darkness, no light.
Night of the once-lived beckons my approach.
Long time has come before this point, much accomplished, my journey almost done.
Only the last bit must be finished.
Only the last bit until I am gone.
The desolate air creeps still.
Still I am here.
Still I am receding.
Still I am almost no more.
And it opens the door.
Night of the once-lived beckons my approach.
Cautiously I follow into another place.
The living I leave behind me, they are still alive.
I have no need for them anymore.
I follow and enter another place.
Through the open door.
Night of the once-lived beckons my approach.
I am no more.
